Information Collection and Usage

The City of Decatur sometimes requires citizens who request information, and subsequently register to use our services, to provide contact information such as their name, address, phone number (in some cases) and email address. This requirement is particularly relevant for the Keeping You Informed Decatur newsletter.

The City of Decatur and their public relations agency use the collected information to contact citizens to further discuss their interest in Decatur, Alabama, our public services and to send information related to our city, as well as promotions and upcoming events. Registrants will automatically be subscribed to our email notification service as part of the set up process. All citizens and visitors have the opportunity to choose to opt out from receiving this notification and other email communications, such as newsletters and alerts. Citizen and visitor information will not be shared or distributed.

A Note to Recipients of Email Messages from The City of Decatur, Alabama

The City of Decatur does not retain email address information after our users delete their information from our servers. The City of Decatur does not monitor or limit our users from creating email messages. We do, however, quickly and fervently respond to notification of violations or abuses of The City of Decatur, including failure to honor opt-outs.
