Public Records Requests
Requests for information pertaining to public records may be filed with the City Clerk-Treasurer. The forms must be completed and signed. Requests for public records will be processed in a timely manner. There will be a charge of $.50 per page for copies of public records. If research or compilation is required, the hourly rate will be the salary of the lowest paid staff member possessing the access and experience necessary to assemble the information.
Yard Sale Permits
Yard sale permits for yard sales are issued in the City Clerk’s Office. Each resident is permitted by ordinance to have two sales per year. Each sale can last up to three (3) days.

Municipal Elections Qualifications
Municipal Elections for the offices of Mayor, five City Council positions and five School Board positions will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, and a runoff, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. The qualification period will open on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. and end on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Any person interested in seeking office should contact City Clerk-Treasurer Stacy Gilley at (256) 341-4532 or by e-mail at sgilley@decatur-al.gov
Prospective candidates who, with intent to become a candidate, begin to raise or expend funds prior to the actual qualification period may trigger certain filing requirements under the Fair Campaign Practices Act. The new administration will assume office on Monday, November 5, 2012
